Project: "PSX controller adapter" - Building the Interface

To connect the pads to the PC, we require an interface. I constructed mine using a blank 5+1/4 faceplate, and DIN panel sockets. You can design the Interface anyway you feel like it. For mine, I just mounted everything as shown in the picture.

In this picture you can clearly see the 4 input sockets, the switch and LED.

 

Wiring up the DIN Sockets

After you have mounted your DIN sockets in a similar manner, turn the panel around and wire them up according to the following diagram. Remember that this wiring diagram is of the REAR, ie the far right DIN socket is pad 1, and the far left DIN socket is pad 4.

I find that the best way to solder the DB type connectors is to fill the little 'wells' up with solder first. Then heat up the solder in the 'well' and slide the cable in.

Now that you have finished building your interface, we can move on to making the adaptor cable.
